We start this tenth year of modelflight with a new opening screen and the masthead confirming the very essence of the site. The participatory concept was quickly established from the third issue, in February 2000, when the first four contributors were from South Africa, UK, USA and Malaysia respectively. You might note that I have now bowed to the popular view and classify the site as a sort of magazine!

This lovely model of the de Havilland DH.86 Express was Ivan Pettigrew's 2008 project. Ivan remembers this as being the first airliner to grace the skies of Timaru, where he grew up in New Zealand. There are full details of the model and more superb pictures by Hal Norrish on this month's gallery.
