Remembering
all who are |
Hi friends, This issue starts the sixth year of modelflight's existence, so I thought I would mark it with a slightly fresh look in one or two departments, if only to give me a bit of a challenge! Design is not a strong point with me as I tend to think 'classic typography' rather than 'graphic arts', so if there are strong howls of protest about the new design I might even think about changing it all back again for the next issue! The main thing to note from a practical point of view is that the navigation frame has gone from the left-hand edge of your browser window, and the navigation function has been moved to a drop down menu in the top left corner of each page. Just click on the down arrow and you have the full range of modelflight pages to choose from and, just as before, you can still navigate from any page to any page on the site. It does mean an extra click to get to the page of your choice but never mind! You might also spot that the page title now appears at the top right of the page and stays there as you scroll down, so you can still know which page you are viewing when you want to choose the next page to enjoy! The eagle-eyed among you might spot one or two other minor changes as you browse the site. I have withdrawn the 'all electric' page which I launched just a couple of issues ago. There is no particular upsurge of material flooding in specifically to do with electric-powered models and, on reflection, I do not think there is any need to cover this particular form of motive power as a separate category on modelflight, any more than there is to have separate pages for other individual categories of flying models. As I have said many times before, material on all aspects of model flying is very welcome, and I believe the current range of pages continues to provide adequate space for them all. Paul Cook's Twiglet and Topic plans remain available, and details of them now appear on the plans links page, together with a new range of plans of models designed by Mal Pring which you can copy off the site. These plans first appeared in the Australian publication Radio Control Model News; I am delighted that Mal has now made them available to us! You can meet Mal on personal profiles. Thanks to all who kindly sent me New Year greetings which were really appreciated and warmly reciprocated! With every good wish, Sincerely,
