Issue 86
July 2004

Hi friends,

First of all, apologies that this month's issue is a bit thin! I have been away from home quite a bit during the month, including the ten days right up to and including the uploading date and on my return I simply had no more time left to process or generate any more material for the issue. Still, I hope that you would rather have a thin issue than none at all - as my son likes to say under such circumstances, "It's better than a poke in the eye with a blunt stick"!

The up-side of that, though, is that I have a nice little bundle of material that was waiting for me on my return which I have put into my 'pending' folder to kick off the August issue - a rare event, indeed, to have something in reserve!

In recent months, I have been sending out my 'reminder' e-mail in batches of ten, working my way down my modelflight reminder mailing list and sending them all as blind copies to avoid the publishing of e-mail addresses. It is a time-consuming process and takes much longer than uploading the issue itself, but as a result of some very hepful advice from Dan Broderick I have been particularly pleased to discover a mail merge facility that exists within Microsoft Outlook, although it took me some time to work out how to use it! Once I have prepared the brief reminder e-mail, the application will work its way automatically down the mailing list, so if you are a subscriber to the reminder e-mail it now comes to you as an individual e-mail sent directly to you, so be assured there is no danger of your e-mail address being available to other recipients. Thanks, Dan!

I look forward to receiving your contributions for the August issue.

Regards to all,
