Burlington
Radio Control Modellers is a large club of some 160 members situated
in Burlington, about a half-hour drive west of Toronto, Canada.
The club was founded around 25 years ago and boasts two flying fields.
Pictured right is the very nice facility at Bronte Creek Provincial
Park.
BRCM sounds to be a
very friendly club, encouraging newcomers to the fun of r/c flying and
also providing a full and attractive programme of flying and social events. The
club is proud of its safety record, and they run an impressive MAAC-approved
Wings Program for the training and proficiency development of
members.
BRCM sets out to be
'community-friendly', with flying events free to the public and
participating with a float in the annual Santa Claus Parade - a nice
touch! Subject to the necessary insurance cover, the club also provides
day guest arrangements for visitors.
As well as being able
to fly every day, weather permitting, members also enjoy a monthly
evening meeting with a varied programme of topics, guest speakers and
activities. R/C modelling of every class appears to be catered for at
the club, including float flying for which there are also a couple of
special events each year.
Burlington
RCM has a smart website with a heap of very interesting content both for
members and surfers alike. As well as club news, information on events
and meetings, the monthly newsletter, etc., pages such as those
dedicated to technical tips (covering servos, scale building, batteries,
weights and balancing, pre-flight checklist and a glimpse into the
future of high-tech r/c radios), scale and float flying and even the Wings
Program itself are all great sources of useful information and
ideas. The gallery page displays a nice array of members' models
(sampled on photo gallery, of course!),
and there is an extremely comprehensive page of links to other clubs, as
well as local and international suppliers of all things related to r/c
modelling.
