Hi friends,

Important announcement to all on the ModelFlight mailing list!
Following some really helpful information from Izak Theron from Benoni, South Africa, I have set up an account with Yahoo! to handle my
ModelFlight reminder mailing list, and I hope to give it a go commencing with the next issue, number 50. What it means in practice is that I prepare just one e-mail notifying the availability of the new issue and then all of you on the mailing list will automatically receive the notification. This system will overcome the current Freeserve limitation which makes it necessary for me to send my reminder out in a large number of small groups of eight addresses at a time, although ModelFlighter Phil Hayward tells me he's having no such problems with a group of around 80 on Freeserve.

It does mean, of course, that Yahoo! are processing my mailing list, but the account will only be used for this single purpose and I have set up the group so that I am the only person who can send messages. To save you having to do anything, I have made the assumption that you will be happy to receive the reminder in this way, but between now and the next issue you will receive a rather long-winded welcome note and confirmation that you have been added to the new group and given an opportunity of un-subscribing if you are not. If you are happy to go along with the new arrangement then you need do nothing but eagerly await the next reminder!

Thanks very much, Izak!

Club dispute settled
Some weeks ago, you may remember, I reported an unhappy situation where a chap I called Fred had been chucked out of his club by the committee because he challenged them for failing to carry out a decision made at a formal members' meeting. I promised you I would let you know the outcome if I heard any more, so I am pleased to be able to tell you that the matter has now been satisfactorily resolved. As I understand it, the committee changed their mind once they realised the serious action that Fred was prepared to take if they persisted in their action against him. It's a pity that it had to come to that - let's hope all concerned can now put the matter behind them and get on with enjoying their hobby! Incidentally, I can't tell you what happened about the original decision!

50th issue coming up
Celebrate #50 with me by sending a picture of your model for the photo gallery - let's make it a bumper show! Make sure you identify yourself and your model - maybe your shot will get on the opening screen!

Regards to all,

This is Peter Brown's Flair Fokker D11. Peter is a member of Fleet & District Model Aero Club, which is featured on club scene. The photo was taken by Kevin Manley and sent to me by Ian Savage, both fellow club members.  Click the mini-pic on the left to return to the cover screen or the thumbnail on the right to see an unobscured view of the shot.

I send the reminder through the Yahoo! groups service.
