No 47
November 3, 2001

Hi friends,

I am sorry that my little note advising the arrival of a new issue of ModelFlight was late for #46. As soon as I realised that no one had received the reminder 48 hours after it had been sent, I queried with my ISP, Freeserve, if there was some form of 'sorting' process which delayed comparatively large group mailings, as normal e-mails were still being processed virtually instantaneously. Their reply revealed that, as part of their anti-spamming measures, their e-mail software places a limit of just eight e-mails to a group (of which I was totally unaware!) - my mailing consisted of six group mailings greatly in excess of that figure. What puzzles me, though, is that despite this ruling, the majority of my group mailings have succeeded in the past and, when there has been a delay, they have eventually gone through sometime on the third day after mailing.

All the same, it looked as though the #46 mailing had definitely failed, so I set to and broke my mailing list down to groups of eight and sent them all out again. For the time being at least, this seems to be the only way I can now send my large mailing out, unless anybody knows of some neat software that will automatically work itself down my mailing list and send the reminder out to each e-mail address in turn. Freeserve invited me to make contact with them if I needed any further help or advice, so I have asked them if there is any other way to successfully send a large mailing out, but so far I have received no reply.

It's some time now since we had any news of Chris Hardie's Blohm und Voss MB141B, but he has got going again on this intriguing plane as reported on work in progress

This is a very special weekend for Gary Clemans-Gibbon - see the hotchpotch page.

Regards to all,

This beautiful model float plane is Jan Roestorf's Bernardt, nicely captured by Peter Morey. Jan's club, Irene Radio Fliers of Pretoria, South Africa, is featured on club scene. See photo gallery for more pictures from this club. Click the mini-pic on the left to return to the cover screen or the thumbnail on the right to see an unobscured view of the shot.
