 C-160
Transall
Have you seen this? It's another in Flair
Products ever-increasing range of high-quality ARTF models, and its
fairly close coupled engines and high wing are said to make it an
excellent choice for your first twin. It was reviewed in the August 2001
issue of Model Flyer, apparently.
Developed
towards the end of the 1950s, this aircraft filled a need for a
general-purpose load carrier for the French and West German air forces.
The overall layout was made similar to the already successful Hercules,
but in this case a smaller aircraft was required with only two engines.
Flair's ARTF of this interesting plane has a
wingspan of 1830 mm and weighs in at 2·85 kg. The fuselage is a glass
fibre moulding and the wings are a three-piece foam veneered assembly,
joined by the user with two dihedral braces. It has a length of 1350
mm and is designed for two ·25 2-stroke or two ·26 4-stroke engines.
Radio requirements are 4-channel, 6 servos. As with all models in the
Flair ARTF range, the manufacturer's hardware has been replaced with
Flair's own higher quality gear.
The Flair catalogue number
is AF009 and the cost is £229.95. Order on-line from Flair Products
