  • Here's an item or two from the latest catalogues, magazine advertising or websites  - not  necessarily all new products on the market, but items large and small that will be of interest.
  • If you contact any supplier as a result of reading this page, please be sure to mention ModelFlight.
Current Cat on the Corner is John Anderson's 'Top Cat'. If you're a cat-loving model flyer, send a picture of your moggie and he or she could well appear here!

Here's something rather special that you won't find in the shops!

The Challenge . . .

set a couple of years ago by Paul Landels of Just Engines to Graham Whitby (local modeller and designer - a name you may have seen on plans and in several sport aerobatic and fun fly kits), who was looking for ideas for his next project

  • Design your next model around a Moki 1.80.
  • Make it a big fun fly model, but one that looks like an aeroplane.
  • Make it capable of flying like a trainer when you want it to and yet will do about anything you ask of it.
  • Make it capable of hovering ‘before your very eyes’.
  • Make sure it’s stable so an average pilot (like Paul) can do it - not just the experts you see at the shows.

Two days later, Graham was back with a few diagrams and a potential wing section. Three more days, half a wing and a bit of fuselage. The next week, test flying the prototype! Autumn and Winter spent test flying.

. . . the Answer

Graham Whitby's

'High Voltige'

Did it do what Paul asked of it?  YES! Did it re-kit itself through a loop? NO! Take off - SHORT - AND THEY MEAN SHORT. Vertical performance - OH YES! Stall - WHAT STALL? It simply dropped its nose a little - checked many times. Stable - with the rates on. Hover? Paul could do it!

HVleft.jpg (32003 bytes)Graham Whitby’s ‘High Voltige’

(pronounce ‘High Voltage’ - but Voltige is French
for Aerobatics!) 25-35cc 2 strokes

86" span (1800sq inches wing area)

Plug in wings (for transportation)

69" long (weighing 13½ -14½ lbs)

CNC cut parts + Glens Models U/C, Carbon Fibre rods, Canopy and Cowl

‘3D’ Aerobatic, Sports Aerobatic, ‘Fun-Fly’…….call it what you like - it’s capable of flying from ‘mild to wild’!

It’s big, it’s stable and it’s very aerobatic. That may sound like a contradiction, but it’s true. Kit includes everything necessary for construction of the model (excluding tank and accessories) and represents excellent value for money.

Designed for 25cc-35cc 2 strokes (absolutely ideal with either the Moki 1.80 or 2.10) - it can be used with an in-cowl ‘Pitts’ style silencer - or via the use of simple ducting, an internal tuned or mini pipe.
