| Balsa Nova 40 and 40 ARTF
Already
very popular in the Unites States, apparently, expectations are high for
the Balsa Nova 40 to become equally so in the UK - there are even those
who reckon it is set to become the new 'cult' model that every
club member will want!
The model is manufactured by Morris
Hobbies (originators of the now famous IFOs) who have an enviable
reputation for high quality kits - this one is claimed to be their
flagship and one of the best. It's said to be easy to fly, ideal as a
great first low-wing model, and yet has unlimited aerobatic capability.
The fuselage design is interesting and
unusual, with the cockpit area back to the tail tapering at the top to
make it look a bit like a cross between a pattern ship and a profile
model. Click the picture above for a view from another angle and you
will see what I mean.
The Balsa Nova 40 has a wingspan of
52½", a wing area of 675 sq.ins. and a length of 52". It
weighs between 4 and 5·5 lbs and is suitable for ·40 to ·50 2-stroke
engines, 4-channel with 5 servos.
The model is available in two versions -
as an ARTF at a price of around £179.99 or as a full kit
at £74.99, both versions including a comprehensive hardware
pack.
The Balsa Nova 40 is distributed in the
UK by Ansa Products, Newport, South Wales, who have recently
acquired the distribution rights for more of the Morris Hobbies products
following their success in handling the IFO. Incidentally, for £6 you
can actually buy a video of this plane in
action, with £4 refundable if you order a kit from the range.
