hotchpotch n. medley; dish of many ingredients

. . . and that's what this page is all about. Tell us about anything else at all other than model flight matters - as long as it's decent and inoffensive!

Share something of your other interests and hobbies or those of your family, be they amateur dramatics, arts and crafts, gardening, horse-riding, model railways,  pets or whatever. Let's see the new baby, hear about your kids, your spouse, partner or girl/boy friend and their achievements, the new house, etc., etc. From academic to zany, it's all welcome on this page (subject to the discretion of the editor)!

Derek & Elaine's new CD

Model flyers DEREK AND ELAINE MORGAN are international professional musicians on the Country, Folk, Celtic and Blues scene (excuse me if that's not the right term these days!).

They are about to start officially recording for a new CD at the beginning of October and the CD will be released in time for Christmas.

If you want to know more, see pictures from their international performances, etc., then visit Derek and Elaine's recently updated website at www.morganmusic.fsbusiness.co.uk from where you can also join their mailing list.

All the best with the recording, Derek and Elaine - keep us posted!

I'm not an active model railway enthusiast - although like a good many others, I am fascinated by a nice layout in action and many years ago I did have a great TT-gauge model railway in my loft! - but I do love computer simulators of almost any sort. I have therefore been unable to resist the new Microsoft Train Simulator, and I must tell you it is really good fun and considerably more challenging than I imagined. It does feel rather good to get one of these big locos rolling!

It's got a fascinating selection of engines, from the Flying Scotsman to the state-of-the-art Acela, a nice selection of routes and great graphics insofar as both the engines themselves and the scenery are concerned.

There are some simple tutorials and you can make things as straightforward or challenging as you like as you have a go at real-world operations from novice to expert, including running to timetables, marshalling in the yard or battling with bad weather conditions!

Glad to know that Denis Wolff is getting better; sorry to learn that Mr Old-timer himself, Tore Loodin, has been 'a bit cranky' lately with 'flu. Get well soon, Tore!
