Tell
us all about your model flying club and report on your activities. E-mail me with some idea of
the sort of facilities you have, size of membership, types of model flown,
social activities, reports of special events, site availability, guest
arrangements, frequency of meetings, location, or anything else you
can think to mention. Pictures will also be most welcome, and if you
want to send me pictures by conventional post, my address now
appears on home
page. If your club has a website, let me know the address and ModelFlight
will pay you a virtual visit!

| Newfoundland News from Craig Trickett
Greetings from the other side of the pond. Just thought
I'd update you on what's been happening here in Newfoundland over the
past few weeks.
On August 1, The ST JOHN'S R/C FLYERS hosted a static
display and float flying demo at The Royal St John's Regatta. We had
over 20 aircraft there and did two separate flying demos from Quidi
Vidi lake. There was in excess of 20,000 people on hand at the Regatta
and the response to the club was amazing. We have been getting
inquiries about joining the club on a regular basis ever since. There
has also been a huge jump in the number of hits on our web page as
well. We plan on doing a bigger and better display at next year's
event. There are some pictures added to the float fly gallery for
2001 of the regatta.
This past weekend the SCREAMING EAGLES R/C CLUB in
Gander hosted their annual fun fly at Gander International Airport.
The weekend started on Friday night with a meet-and-greet at Ken
Stack's house. Ken always throws a good party. The whole town throws
down the red carpet for the R/C Flyers when they arrive. The
weather was absolutely perfect for flying with the temperature in the
mid 20's each day. There were over 50 pilots registered and there
was over 90 aircraft on the flightline. There was constant flying from
0800 till 2000 each day. There were no major crashes compared to
8 last year. It is a really strange feeling to be on approach
with your model with a full size 747 or Galaxy on approach in the background. Steve
should have some pictures in the 2001 Gander Gallery in the next few
days.
That's about it for now. I'm relaxing for the next few
days before I even look at a plane again.
Check out the St
John's website for pictures from these events.
Thanks very much, Craig - great to
read of what you're up to.
News like this and notices of club
events are really very welcome on ModelFlight.
