Hi
friends,
Congratulations
to Paul Cooke on gaining his B(Eng) Honours degree in Microelectronics and
Computing. Paul is son of Gordon, Chairman of Test Valley Flying Club, and flies
with us whenever he gets the opportunity. Paul's final year project just
happened to be a pretty nifty microprocessor- controlled battery charger for
Nicad, NiMH and Lithium cells and electric flight use. I'm hoping that Paul will
write something up on it for ModelFlight.
I was
really pleased to be able to meet Gary Clemans-Gibbon at Wings & Wheels
Model Spectacular a week or so ago. Gary is the guy who encouraged me to put up
the new archive which, I am happy to say, has been well-received. Apart from the
lads at my club, Gary is the first ModelFlight
reader to have emerged from cyberspace and become a reality! Now I know that you
guys out there really do exist! There's an in-depth kit review from Gary on air
space.
Do you
have any 'cottage' kit-makers in your part of the world? You know what I mean -
the small, independent manufacturer turning out unusual or particularly nice
kits that the rest of us might normally never hear of. If so, and if they have a
web site, please let me know about them and give me their web address. I would
like to feature a few from all around the globe on our 'site seeing' page from
time to time.
Hit-counting
is not my thing and as long as there are a reasonable number of you who are
happy to visit and contribute to this web site, I am certainly happy to go on.
All the same, I must record that just before the last issue went up on the web, my
discrete hit counter recorded the 20,000th visitor to the site, which sort of
pleased me for no truly accountable reason. Cue to thank you all for your
continued support and encouragement; your contributions of any sort are always
most welcome and I love to hear from you!
Regards to all,
