STEVEN TAKES TO THE AIR AGAIN!

steve2.jpg (20421 bytes)

Steven Bolin, from Kent, Washington, USA, has just enjoyed what seems to be his annual flight in a B-17! Each year, there's a visit by one of these vintage bombers to his local airport and this year the visiting plane was the B-17 'Aluminum Overcast'.

Steve was aloft again, and has sent these lovely shots of his trip as he flew over Puget Sound and the city of Seattle.

gets a mention!

I admit to a degree of pleasure when I saw a nice little positive mention of ModelFlight in the regular Web Watch feature of the July issue of RC Model World - "the world's biggest full colour modelling monthly"!

Described as "Reg Heath's impressive presence on the net" (how about that!), ModelFlight was stated as being presented in magazine 'issue' style and changing month by month (fortnightly, really, of course!).

What was also nice was that right alongside the item about ModelFlight was one on Gary Clemans-Gibbon's site, RC Pages, the brilliant free service for buying and selling models and associated gear. Gary is a keen supporter of ModelFlight and his site was featured as part of Gary's profile that appeared on personal profile #35.

Gary has kindly chosen to promote ModelFlight through one of his series of ever-changing banner adverts that appear at the top of his page and - coincidentally or not, I'm not sure -  the screen shot of his site appearing in RC Model World was actually displaying the Modelflight advert.

Probably as a result of this mention in the modelling press, visitor numbers to ModelFlight have increased quite a bit. If you are a new visitor to the site - welcome! I hope you have enjoyed it and will make yourself known to us with a personal profile, model pictures or anything else of model flight interest for inclusion on a future issue.

Generous gesture

I foolishly left my Futaba Field Force 8 transmitter on the field when I departed last weekend, and it was kindly returned to my home later in the day by one of our club members.

ff8.jpg (51818 bytes) When I opened the case, I found that Jim had not only given the transmitter a really good clean, so that it was looking all bright and shiny again, but he had also installed an additional eight-model memory chip for me - his version of the Futaba CAMPac 16k memory extension that costs around £45! Jim is our electronics expert and has made a batch of these cards for the Futaba users at the club - he says that they cost literally no more than a couple of pounds each. I think Jim might have details of an instruction leaflet that is available for this job - let me know if you're interested and I'll ask him - and thanks again, Jim!. chip.jpg (7851 bytes)
