Hi friends,

I often remark how nice it is when I can feature any of the more specialised branches of our hobby, like control line, rubber-powered, etc., so I was particularly pleased when I heard from new Modelflight contributor DAVID SIMMONDS and discovered that he is a scale glider fan. His club, Southampton Soaring Society, is featured on club scene and there are some nice piccies from them on the photo gallery. Read about SSS and you will come across someone else whose work you will already have seen in the modelling press, particularly if you are a RCM&E reader.

I very much enjoyed my visit to Sandown Model Symposium and was glad I went on the Sunday when it was considerably quieter round the trade stands than the previous day, I gather. I had a look at Flair Products new Stearman that was mentioned on the last issue - what a beauty and even bigger than I had imagined. F3A World Champion Christophe Paysant-Le Roux's flying display was awesome, although personally I wished it had contained just a moment or two of less acrobatic activity - it was so fast and furious that the unenlightened might have been forgiven for thinking he was out of control or just doing some random stick-twiddling! I was encouraged to discover that, whilst I cannot fly like a champion, I can certainly land like one - his nose-overs were just the same as mine, but mine actually seem less frequent!

Our most unusual flying model to date appears on the photo gallery - designed, built and flown by Scott Thompson of Indiana, and certainly an attention-grabber!

I was glad to hear from Denis Wolff that his move to Bridlington has gone off o.k. - he's up and running again.

Regards to all,
