If your national flag isn't shown, it's because you haven't written to ModelFlight yet . . . !

My thanks to GARY CLEMANS-GIBBON, PETER DENNIS, GEOFF GRAHAM, TORE LOODIN, ALVARO RIASCOS and LARS WINBERG for their kind comments on the last issue.

Welcome to TOM WIGHTMAN who contacted ModelFlight for the first time and joined the mailing list - meet Tom on personal profiles.

A bit of idle chit-chat from Tore (Loodin) with his usual little touch of humour!

Hi Reg!

Thank you for the #35, as ever longed for. I have not so much to contribute this time. As ever in springtime the weekends are stuffed with model activities, many of them hampered due to rain and wind. Saturday, I took part in a small planes meeting, which was crowded with five modellers, one of them me. Of course I semi-crashed my model in a gust, when hand launching. As the height was low, it is repairable.

On Thursday it is a red letter-day, here called "Christ goes to heaven" or "Christ fly awayday" traditionally celebrated by RCflying in our fashionable circles. I will attend Södertälje RC field as they celebrate the Models Day there, very appropriate indeed. I will fly one of my oldtimers, the Ben Buckle Super Playboy. I bought a kit from him many years ago, when visiting Vintage models day at Old Warden.

Here is what we call the green winter, very chilly and windy. The nights will have temperatures below the freezing point. Please set up a fence to hold back the low pressures sailing away from England to our shores!

My cat Truls is sitting in front of me, looking at two seagulls fighting about a chunk of bread on the roof of the house on the other side of the street. So I will send a picture of him for the cats corner.

Fly safe!

Tore & cats

I know Tore won't mind me saying so, but I just loved his English translation of the Swedish for Ascension Day - "Christ fly awayday" sounds much more fun! He says he doesn't have so much to contribute this time, but there's a nice little batch of pictures from him on photo gallery all the same and the Differential Movement article on air space arises from his correspondence to me.

Peter Dennis, editor of 'Flying Sites' which was reviewed on the last ModelFlight, writes:

Just seen your piece about us. It looks and reads very well indeed. Many thanks for the review. I will now keep a look out for visitors from outside the UK, as your site seems to reach the parts that etc etc ;-)

You may have already noticed but our links page now carries a link to you and your very interesting site.

Good Luck and thanks once again.

Thanks for your kind comments, Peter, and thank you also for the link; much appreciated.
Just as I was wrapping this issue up, I heard from LARS WINBERG. Here's just the start of his letter:

Hello Reg!

I liked your presentation of the stuff I sent you (there were some of Lars's model pics on #33). Now comes more from Sweden.

At first I will introduce myself. I am 68 in august so I´m retired since three years ago . . .

. . . and that's as much as I've got time for before I upload this issue. On #36, though, there will be personal profile of Lars and more of his great pictures!

It certainly sounds a magnificent show - the large scale model aircraft look magnificent, as you can see from the picture above of a B-17 Flying Fortress, one of three flown in formation at last year's show by Andy Johnson, his father Dave Johnson and Gordon Nicholl.

  • Had a good bit of flying recently or has the weather let you down?
  • Enjoyed visiting a show?
  • Learned something new and feeling chuffed about it?
  • Had a spectacular crash?
  • Bought a new model?
  • One of the kids started in the hobby?
  • How's that new kit progressing?
  • Got a question that someone might be able to answer?
