THIS is the page for aero-model pictures - your own, or others you've seen at the club or at a show; they are all welcome if they're nice to look at!

If you're not into digital photography or scanning pictures, why not send me some photos by regular mail?  It's not too pricey; a batch of five or six photos costs $1.00 airmail postage from the USA, for example. My home address is on the home page.

Dericksdesign.jpg (32958 bytes)It's nice to hear from DERICK VELIZ again. This picture is of his new plane of his own design. Derick had his friend Steve from Diversity Model Aircraft cut the foam wings for him, then used old stuff like servos from his Wingo (crashed on a roof after taking aerial photos), and the rudder from his old Dragonfly, etc.

The plane has a foam Clark Y wing,  47" wingspan and flies on 8 cells 800 mAh. It is powered by an Astroflight brushless motor 020, geared 3:1; 10 x 8 wood prop, ailerons, rudeder, elevator, flaps and motor. Derick says it takes off from grass, can give 8 minutes flying and can slow down very nicely, as well as being fast and aerobatic - he's had four flights so far and a lot of touch-and-goes.

Despite the occasional dash to our emergency  hangar (school bike shed!) to get out of the rain, a few more models have made their first appearance on the Test Valley Model Flying Club (UK) field in the last two weeks.

mercury.jpg (34270 bytes) Not a new model - in fact it's almost 30 years old - but its first outing this year, I think. This is LIONEL KIRBY'S beautiful Mercury built in the early 70's from a Bob Smith plan. Originally a free-flight power duration model, Lionel later converted it to full r/c. With a 96" wingspan and powered by a K & B ˇ61 2-stroke, the clear Solarfilm covering shows off the lovely stringer construction fuselage (a digression by Lionel from the sheeted fuz of the plan).

Anybody else flying anything as old as this, I wonder?

Finally, here is a little album of pictures taken over a recent enjoyable weekend for Tore Loodin and chums.

Tore and his mates had a good weekend, kicking off with an electric glider competition at Barkaby airport, followed by an electric meeting at Dalarö on the Sunday. The glider comp. set an ideal air time of fifteen minutes, with reduced points for over- or under-shooting the time. Used motor time also deducts points. Landing within two different size circles, each with the same centre point, is rewarded with bonus points.

Send us a picture of your aero model

Large or small, kit, scratch built or ARTF, rotary or fixed-wing, electric, rubber or i/c, r/c or free flight, it matters not - and they don't have to be perfect, either. If you like it, let's see it!

Just use the e-mail facility at the foot of any ModelFlight page or send details and pictures by regular mail.
