| Meet STEPHEN BARROW from
Tasmania
Stephen is 33 years old and a Computer
Consultant. He has been modelling since he was 18 years old and started
i.c. flying with an aircraft known as a Happy 20 - a basic
3-channel high-wing trainer, and progressed through other i.c. models.
Stephen lives in Sandy Bay, Hobart, Tasmania
with his wife Lisa and 2-year-old son James. Young James
often goes along to watch the aircraft fly and likes making the motors
run on his dad's Partenaviar using his (dad's) Futaba FF7 transmitter!
Stephen reckons at some stage James will be flying as well - something
he no doubt looks forward to. Stephen holds a Commercial Pilot's Licence
and has logged over 1,000 hours of flight time in singles and light
twins.
About 6 years ago, Stephen returned to aero
modelling after a break and decided that electric power looked like a
viable option, especially for multi-engine aircraft. He built a Graupner
Partenaviar with two Speed 400s, which he still enjoys flying.
Stephen
now regularly flies an EPP foam scale Sea Fury pictured here and made by
S & B Models - coincidentally the company and model that was
featured on 'cats corner' on the last ModelFlight. He also
regularly hand-launches a stock Kyosho T-33 which he flies on
eight 2400 cells. Stephen is currently working on a Bearcat which is the
subject of an article on his club's website (see club
scene) and he has a Wemotec Alpha Jet kit to make up next.
Stephen belongs to The Hobart Model Aero Club
and manages the club web site.
Here
is a shot of some of Stephen's models, taken at the club electric fly-in
which was held in March; his are the three behind the glider.
Read all about The Hobart Model Aero club on club
scene and see another shot of Stephen's Partenaviar on photo

Join in the fun, send ModelFlight an
e-mail and tell us about yourself, your family, hobbies and interests, what you
do for a living, how long you've been model-making, what club you belong to,
etc. - in fact as much or as little as you see fit. Include a picture of yourself
if you can.
Your
e-mail address will be shown unless you specifically ask for it not to
appear. Picture files ideally need to be in JPG format for
best colour reproduction and to minimise time on-line.
If you want to send me pictures by conventional mail, my address
is
Reg Heath, 60 South View Gardens, Andover, Hants, SP10 2AQ, UK
