If your national flag isn't shown, it's because you haven't written to ModelFlight yet . . . !

My thanks to SKIPPER JONES, JOHN LEE and DENNIS WATSON for their kind comments on the last issue.

Welcome to GRANT BROOK, JOHN G. LEE, ALLAN SCHNEIDER, CLIVE SIMPSON and KEN DeZOTTELL who have all joined the mailing list since the last ModelFlight.

welcome to JOHN G LEE

I'm a member of Heswall Model Aero Club, introduced to your site through Andy Tabor.

I've been modelling since a youngster (joined HMAC 1966) and have never grown out of it! I have flown competitively but now my main interest is in R/C sport flying and enjoying the weekend chat. I also fly full size - got my PPL in '76 and now hold a CPL & full Instructor Rating - again it's a weekend hobby, which actually takes second place to the models!

I thoroughly enjoy your site and will look forward to future editions.

Attached is the result of a mid air a week ago - my 'Little Star' came off second best to Ron Sweeney's (well known ducted fan enthusiast) 60 powered Ultimate Biplane. The carbon fibre leading edge & mainspar of the Little Star held it together and the wing remained remarkably stiff despite the damage & I was able to land without further damage.

Nice looking model, despite the damage, John, and glad you like ModelFlight! Got any more pictures for us?

I have just been looking at ModelFlight 30 & as usual there is some really interesting stuff on it.

I thought you may be interested to know that I know of another frequency monitor available, manufactured by Mainlink Systems www.mainlink.demon.co.uk  We have one in our club (Ivel MAC) and it is superb, I also have one of their chargers and I am very impressed with it . . .

I am currently thinking about my next project & really like the look of Bob Nicols' Giles 202 & Richard Dalglish's Extra 300.

Would it be possible to find out the manufacturer & supplier of these models?

Thanks in advance.

Synscan 35.jpg (7207 bytes)Thanks for the information on the frequency monitor, John.

Pictured here is the Mainlink Synscan 25, available for £204, with your club name embedded - a nice touch!

Bob tells me that his Giles is a Flair kit - they do it in a 120 size and a 40 size. Bob will send details of Richard's Extra after he has next seen him!

  Can anybody help CLIVE SIMPSON?

I wonder if anybody that surfs your site has built/assembled the ARF Super Chipmunk from Flair?

I have just bought the kit and cannot see any indicated measurements for dihedral, thrust lines, etc. To my knowledge there has not been any mag reviews of any of these models yet, so I am struggling.

I can say the components appear straight, well-built and well-covered/painted; a very complete fittings pack only lacking the usual spinner and pilot.

This is my first ARF and at £127.50 from my local model shop (Blackburn Models) is not bad value.

If I actually get it built and flown, I will let you know what it's like, in case anyone else is considering buying one.

I tried to get the answer for Clive direct from Flair, but unfortunately they did not have a model in stock to refer to. If you can help, please e-mail Clive.

Hope to see/hear more of your model, Clive.

An interesting request from Safak Yardimci, from Turkey:

Hello Reg;

I need your help. One of my friend wants picture of C 130
and ROYAL AIR FORCE. Please inform me where can I find or if you have, please
send.

Many Thanks.

hercules1.jpg (89694 bytes)Here's a nice picture of a C130 Hercules in low level flight that I found on 47 Squadron Royal Air Force web site that I hope will interest your friend, Safak. If you search the web on C130 you can find plenty more. Click this thumbnail for a large, sharp view.

Nice to hear from you again, by the way - how's your model making going?

I'm passing on a message I received from CRAIG TRICKETT in Newfoundland, Canada, just in case you can help.

Hi Guys

Rob Sparkes is looking for a set of plans for a giant scale Lockheed Vega. If anyone knows where to get such an animal get in touch with Rob at bsparkes@thezone.net

Craig
