Hi
friends,
Like so
many places throughout the UK, we are suffering the effects of the foot and
mouth disease outbreak in various ways and this includes the closure of our
flying site for the foreseeable future. On the last weekend we were able to fly,
however, I was very pleased that I was deemed sufficiently competent to fly solo
at the club field - a great step forward as far as I am concerned!
Whilst
visiting the website of Rivington Soarers Association, which is featured on the club
scene page, I was very interested to see a note requesting that folk should
not use their mobile phones at their flying site as their use had wiped out the
model memories of certain transmitters. I wonder if any of you have also
experienced this phenomenon or know of its possibility?
RICHARD
CRAPP saw my message on last time's 'home page' and tells me that the removal of
the bomb, bomb rack and servo together with the gun amplifier and battery pack
has got his Waco well under the weight limit required for his competition
flying, although he looks forward to having it checked on official scales.
Richard also says that the Spanish Europe Championship, which was part of the
World Air Games, has been cancelled due to differences that have arisen between
the organising bodies. The Spanish championship will now be replaced by a Europe
Championships in Poland; he doesn't yet know where he will be going on August
4th except that it's 1,000 miles from Calais. He mentioned he is building a
Swordfish - I hope we get to see it! My thanks to Richard for getting in touch
and giving us this latest news.
Regards to
all,
