  • Here's where we take a look at other websites of model-flight interest. It might be a commercial site or one belonging to another enthusiast or specialist group. Let me know if you've come across a nice site that you think is worth a look - it could, of course, be your site if you let me know your URL!

After several visits to purely commercial sites on recent issues, it's nice to have a look at a personal site by way of a change.

This one is MICHAEL HENRIKSON'S site which contains a most interesting variety of pages reflecting his various hobbies, as well as something about him and his family.

Michael's interest in r/c aero-modelling now lies solely in electric flight, and he has a page on his website which he calls simply Michaels Electric Models. The page is too large for me to display it here full size, but this much-reduced reproduction is enough for you to see the way it is arranged. It consists of a scroll-down pictorial list of Michael's fleet of fifteen electric models, each item linking to further pictures and details of the model in question. Some background is given to the model, its method of construction, materials used and a full technical specification of the model - wingspan, length, wing area, motor and battery combination, etc.

The range of models is wide, from fast aerobatic outdoor models to park flyers and indoor slow-flyers and includes the Kolibri slow flyer which Michael actually builds and sells complete and ready to fly. There's a small selection of Michael's models on the photo gallery page.

Other pages on the site reflect Michael's diverse range of interesting hobbies and cover Steam Engines, Michael's Recumbent Bike, a page dedicated to the Kolibri slow flyer, Pop-Pop Boats and Family. The Pop-Pop boats are fascinating little models, some of which Michael actually imports and markets through a separate little company he has launched (no pun intended there!) for the purpose.

Michael also occasionally enjoys flying rubber-powered model aircraft, but that has yet to appear on his fascinating website!
