Hi friends,

I trust that you had an enjoyable Christmas if you celebrated it, and maybe received some interesting model-flight-related presents! There is an invitation on the air space page for you to share your joy with the rest of us by letting us take a peep at what you received! Join the fun and send me something to put up on the next ModelFlight.

Although we have continued to have pretty awful weather on the whole in the UK in the last few weeks, in my area we have had a few little breaks just at the right time on a Saturday or Sunday. It has been a question of going to the field 'just in case', and the one or two of us who have shown up have been rewarded with some very enjoyable little flying slots. A novel experience two weeks ago, though, was to find a fairly low blanket of wispy fog over the field, although the air was perfectly still. Gordon, our instructor, carefully explored the extremes of visibility in order to mark out our flying boundaries and, although slightly limited, we were able to enjoy some good flying for some time. My ATS Kite did disappear for one brief moment and I was greatly relieved when it broke out of the fog! I must admit I rather enjoyed the need to fly comparatively low - I just love 'em low and slow! Incidentally, we have 1¾" of snow in my part of southern England right now and others have much more!

I've been looking over all the back-issues of ModelFlight that I keep on disk and am amazed at just how many of you have been in touch during 2000. It has been just great to meet so many of you in this way, and I do thank you for your contributions to the site. If you've been in touch before, do please drop me a line and let us have your latest news and if you haven't yet appeared on these pages, how about resolving to do so? A brief e-mail, a personal profile, news of your club, your website, pictures of your models, details of your latest project, information on a kit, gadget or tool, constructive suggestions for new items or your own articles are all very welcome!

I wish you all a very happy new year and very much look forward to receiving more of your news and views, pictures and profiles, and anything else of model-flight interest. Your contributions are most welcome and I will have much pleasure in publishing them.

Here's to a good year's flying for us all throughout 2001!

Warm regards,
