  • Here's where we take a look at other websites of model-flight interest. It might be a commercial site or one belonging to another enthusiast or specialist group. Let me know if you've come across a nice site that you think is worth a look - it could, of course, be your site if you let me know your URL!

Here's a brief look at the site of John Hubbard's club, CASCADE ROTORY WINGS, as promised last time.

Cascade Rotory Wings website is very much a club-orientated site with an emphasis on conveying club news and views, with the availability of a chat room, message board and mail facilities to members. The home page carries a series of straightforward text links to other pages on the site - Events, Chat Room, Mail, Club Message Board, Club Officers List, IRCHA  Website (International Radio Controlled Helicopter Association), AMA  Website (Academy of Model Aeronautics) and a page of Heli Links of several categories. In addition, principle forthcoming events are also given prominence.

There is a collection of pictures from the Curtis Youngblood Fun Fly held in September, six of which I showed on ModelFlight #20, and many of which are well worth a look. Again, the page is really aimed at club members, with the pictures listed as an index of file names which will only really be meaningful to those in the know, but browsing around them can be rewarding.

Don't get me wrong, though, there's nothing wrong with a club website that aims to serve its club members! After all, it's just a matter of deciding what you want to achieve and then going for it.

GRAHAM COWLING'S PERSONAL WEBSITE

http://www.grahamlc.demon.co.uk/Jets/

GRAHAM COWLING lives in Chichester, West Sussex, England, and works at Goodwood motor circuit and aerodrome, where the pictures on his website were taken. The full size Tiger Moth which you see below is part of Graham's job - he works for a corporate hospitality company providing big toys for big boys and girls to play with. He is an off-road instructor, mechanic, ground crew and prop swinger.

Graham has been flying models on and off for 25 years, starting with single-channel push-button in a Junior 60. He now flies helicopters and is just getting into jets. He flies mainly at Goodwood by arrangement with Air Traffic Control (that must bring an added touch of reality to it!) and he is also a member of Chichester and District Model Aero Club.

Graham's website is a showcase for his models - a nice clean, uncluttered design without a lot of text. The opening page is a straightforward welcome to his collection of models, intriguingly lined up under the wing of the full size Tiger Moth referred to above, as you see here.

Displayed beneath this main picture on Graham's website is the name of each model, and these names are links to a separate page featuring each one. The site gives no details of the models, but Graham has given me a bit of information about them which you can see, together with a larger view of each one, if you click on each of the models in the picture above.
