It's true! It would be good to meet YOU on this personal profile page, so please join the fun and send some details of yourself, your family, modelling and other interests and anything else you care to tell us about and let's get to know you!

You can either e-mail your information from the post-box at the foot of this page or use the Response Form below - and if you've got a picture of yourself, so much the better!

CHRISTOPHER KNOWLES sent me a link to his club website, inviting my comments, and you will find his clubs and site featured on the club scene page. Here's a brief introduction to Christopher himself:

CHRISTOPHER is retired, but teaches for his local Junior College. Come January, when he is 64, he will be teaching three Photography classes and one Gardening class.

Chris is a member of Western R/C Flyers and its associated club S.W.I.F.T. - this latter club reflecting Chris's keen interest in gliders. Chris was the winner in the S.W.I.F.T. Cross Country 2000 competition held in July, coming in first with a flight of 5·9 miles. He has modelled for over 50 years and still does a bit of everything, including some indoor rubber flying during the winter. Current models are 8 gliders flying, five in their boxes and 3 powered r/c models (sounds like The Twelve Days of Christmas!), plus 5 'ukie' models. That was a term I confess to never having heard, and Chris tells me it refers to U-control models. I'm still not really sure what that means - I wonder if it's the same as 'control line' in the UK. If not, somebody put me wise, please! In addition, he has 25 kits in boxes, many of which are classics.

Here's a nice little tale from Chris:

Back in the last epoch, I built a 35-foot sailboat. It was a Tri-Marine, back in the 60's. I was able to do it because it was just like a large model. The same skills were involved - it was just bigger! It was Yawl rigged and I cruised down in Mexico for a couple of years. We endured a hurricane in La Paz. It didn't blow more than 90 - 95, but it was a true religious experience.

Thanks, Chris. Nice to get to know a bit about you and thanks for the link to Western R/C Flyers. There is a picture of Chris with one of his gliders on the photo gallery page.

If you're anything of a gardener, you might find a visit to Christopher's gardening website interesting and helpful - http://www.vegiheal.com/Vegiheal/ChrisKnowles-M-Gardner.htm; he's clearly a very professional man in the garden and has written some serious articles which are on this site. If, like me, you get an error message using the above link, go to http://www.vegiheal.com/Vegiheal-Main.html then click on the Gardening link. From the Gardening page, click on Various Articles alongside Christopher's name and you can then access his articles.

meet TERRY POLLOCK

Terry comes from Melbourne, Victoria, Australia, and is a Management Consultant.

He is married to Jenni and they have four children. There's Cameron, 23, a computer engineer; Susan, 21, an accountant; Sarah, 19, an office administrator; Emma, 19, a security officer.

Terry flies with Lilydale and District Model Flying Association and flies fixed-wing, sport and scale. He's been active in the hobby for 8 years and these are his current models:

Modeltech Vasp 40 ARF sports aerobatic - OS46 FX power, 40/60 trainer, scratch-built and modified to be a sports model, has a false firewall to allow various engines to be fitted, flies with 40 2S through to 65FS

Extra 325, 25 size. Scratch built from Rich Uravitch plans in MAN. This is Terry's second one of these - the first one went in on its first flight; he never found out why and he wasn't the pilot.

Miles Magister, 70-inch, 1/5 scale. Scratch-built from Denis Bryant plans, Saito 65 power plant.

Great Planes Ultrasport 40, new kit. Terry also has the wing from a previous model, so he hopes to get two models from one kit.

Top Flite 65" Mustang, new in box - might build, might sell, he says!

De Havilland Hornet Moth, 77" scale model, scratch-built from Mike Smart plans. This model is now in progress - another year to go - and will be powered by a Saito 65.

Terry's other interest is swimming, which helps with a back problem. He got into R/C after suffering total frustration with golf. He says he was influenced by his father as a WW2 Spitfire pilot who flew 114 combat missions. Terry's work has a major impact on the time available for construction and repair. He says he's always fascinated by the 'building season' in the northern hemisphere - they can fly almost year round in Melbourne. Not quite so fascinating here, Terry!

Join in the fun, send ModelFlight an e-mail and tell us about yourself, your family, hobbies and interests, what you do for a living, how long you've been model-making, what club you belong to, etc. - in fact as much or as little as you see fit. Include a picture of yourself if you can.

Your e-mail address will be shown unless you specifically ask for it not to appear. Picture files ideally need to be in JPG format for best colour reproduction and to minimise time on-line.

If you want to send me pictures by conventional mail, my address is
