If your national flag isn't shown, it's because you haven't written to ModelFlight yet . . . !

Welcome to RATHAN who made contact through the personal profile response form. Rathan didn't say enough about himself to make a full personal profile, but he's 23 years old, is keen on music as well as his model flight interest, and comes from India. That's enough to justify another national flag on the banner, and here's hoping we might  hear from you again, Rathan.

YUCHOL KIM wrote from Lynnwood, Washington, USA:

Hey, I just done updating my homepage, check it out. It's got some cool r/c pics there.

yuchol@prodigy.net

I did just that - and the outcome can be seen on the personal profile, photo gallery and cats corner pages! Thanks for some good material, Yuchol.

from TORE LOODIN, who sent the "oldtimer" competition details on the last ModelFlight:

How are you? Have seen the large floodings in East Anglia - I hope all is well with you and your family. Our rains have now arrived here and it is blowing very hard, so model flying is out of the question. Instead, we are doing our things in-house and I am now CADding a slowflyer with indoor capabilities. Changing subject a little bit, I attach a picture of my favourite cat, the Siamese Caesar.

The report was wonderful and I have recommended your site to all my oldtimer and smallsteps gentlemen. I have all of them on my address list and at least 30 of them are connected to internet.

This weekend we had an Hobbymässa (hobby exhibition). Stockholms Radioflygklubb had a large stand with 20 models of all kinds exhibited. I'll try to get some pictures and mail them to you . . .

tloodin@hotmail.com

I appreciated Tore's kind concern, of course. Fortunately for us, we did not suffer badly from the recent flooding here, but elsewhere and all over the country something like 5,000 people have had to evacuate their homes.

It's nice to meet Caesar -Tore has referred to him on several occasions. Here's hoping we may hear from some of  Tore's model flying colleagues - you are most welcome, gentlemen!

Three months ago, ENRICO FELICIANO wrote from the Philippines on the challenge, and perils, of going it alone. I dropped him a line to see how he was getting on. Here's his reply:

Got your e-mail, sorry for the delay in responding, I was assigned to the job site, out in the boonies, so I haven't had too much time to work on my planes. Besides, we've pretty much got the same weather, mostly rain and wind, so I go R/C boating instead.

The "regular planes" have been on hold, ever since I got a child's kite (about 36" span, cost me about $1.00). I will mount a motor on it and try to make it fly. If it works, I will send you pics and plans. I think it should handle like a plane on the computer games, aileron and elevator. Hopefully, I do not crash it like those planes on the computer.

Being on the net has helped because a lot of the local flyers have come out - I did not know there were so many - and offered to help, so now I can get stuff cheaply.

Thanks for the update, Ricky; it's nice to think your appearance on Modelflight may have helped a bit. The r/c kite project sounds great fun. Has anybody else ever seen, flown or made a r/c hang-glider or microlite, I wonder? They would make good slow-fly subjects, surely? Please write and tell us if you have.

I would love to hear from some of you guys in the Philippnes who made contact with Ricky - you are most welcome on ModelFlight.

HIEN NGUYEN from Orlando, Florida, USA:

I have read several of your ModelFlight news on the internet and have found they are interesting reading.

. . . I am looking for a European hobby store that will sell the Robbe Skyflex V Power Glider on line. Do you know any store in England or Europe that will sell via internet and will ship the Skyflex V kit over to USA?

hientanguyen@yahoo.com

Hi, Hien, and welcome to ModelFlight!

Two UK stores confirmed that they would be happy to supply Hien - they were Sussex Model Centre and GD Models

an SOS from ALEX FORREST in the UK - nothing to do with model flight, but 'post-box' is our equivalent of the clubhouse!

Sorry to bother you again but I am trying to find plans for a toy garage and not having much success. With your vastly superior knowledge (!) and contacts, can you help asap as I don't work very fast!

a.forrest1@blueyonder.co.uk

I obviously couldn't resist a challenge like that and discovered that good old Hobbies have quite a few toy garage (filling station) plans and kits in their latest Hobbies Annual 2001 now in the magazine retailers. Something to do with Christmas, Alex?

an invitation from ANDY MCNEW

Reg, I am newsletter editor of the Cheyenne Radio Control Club (featured on Modelflight #20). Please visit my homepage at http://www.geocities.com/datsmypal with interesting articles, including a picture and video clip of my flying ukulele. Let me know what you think.

andrew.mcnew@wychey.ang.af.mil

Uke1.jpg (48425 bytes)Andy's is a great fun site, with all sorts of amusing model-flight-related items. Unfortunately, I couldn't get the videos to run (that's probably my fault), but click this thumbnail for a shot of the amazing flying uke!  There's also Dr Propwash with stacks of crazy tips as well as just a few serious bits - like an article on making a nicad quick charger from your flight box power panel.

bob.jpg (19042 bytes)

BOB NICOL's unusual contribution this time is a couple of animated .gif files that might amuse you. One of them is rather large to display on this page and I wasn't sure if I could re-size it, so click on the thumbnail of Bob on the left if you want to see what he's up to! You can save these animated files in just the same way as any other picture files if you want to use them.
