If your national flag isn't shown, it's because you haven't written to ModelFlight yet . . . !

here's TORE LOODIN from Stockholm, Sweden

Have just read ModelFlight #17, which is great. I have entered the form with my personal profile and am looking forward to the next issue. Tried to mail more pictures, but can't get the scanner to work. Will ask my computer consultant son Nils to fix it and then come back to you.

Great to hear from you, Tore - our first contact in Sweden and another flag for the banner! Tore is now the oldest recorded ModelFlighter - get to know him on the personal profile page.

STEVE LEWIN asks:

Do you keep your old editions available, or do you just throw them away? A couple of times now I have tried to remember where I read something and thought it might have been on your site, but it's gone. It seems a shame to throw all that info away after only a few weeks.

. . . and here's the answer:

I have all the ModelFlight back-numbers on disk, but they are not still available on the web. I can send html files of the text without the pictures - they are all stored on an images folder for each edition. I have wondered about starting a 'pot luck' page of random back items, but am not sure if there would be much interest. Any views on this folks?

virus warning!

We nearly all receive those e-mails warning us of some new, deadly virus going the rounds from time to time, don't we? Well, here's a virus that I picked up courtesy of our good friend, Craig Trickett!

"You have just received the Newfie virus. As we 'ain't got no programming experience, this virus works on the honour system. Please delete all the files from your hard drive and manually forward this virus to everyone on your mailing list. Tanks for your co-operation, Bye."!

DENIS WOLFF was looking for a source of supply for STARSPAN covering material; GORDON COUNSELL kindly gave him this answer which may be useful to others:

You will find FMK for Starspan at

5 STAR MODEL PRODUCTS
51 ARUNDEL AVENUE
SEFTON PARK
LIVERPOOL
ENGLAND

Gordon told Denis, "Their Starspan and other materials are very good; just treat like ordinary tissue. I cover wet and use dope as an adhesive . . . "

DENIS also responded to my interest in getting information, comments, etc., on control line flying (amongst other disciplines):

Re control line, I started with KK Phantom and Mills 1·3 mk I, then on to stunt with own designs. You can feel the aircraft flying; you don't get dizzy, 'cos you see the aircraft clearly, background a fuzz. I once watched my Mills grow taller till finned head unscrewed, then contra-piston went with prop windmilling! I lost interest when speed freaks flew things with only a starboard wing and port tailplane - hardly aircraft! Big engines on long lines were best.

Thanks, Denis - very interesting. I hadn't thought about the idea of 'feeling' the aircraft flying but I can well understand what you mean - must be quite good!
