meet ALVARO RIASCOS from
Colombia (another new flag on the banner!)
Hi Reg
First excuse my poor English. I'm delighted to have this new contact
with you. I have a long time in the hobby, but was retired from it for
15 years. Now I have returned, but like electric. Actually, I have one
Elinor trainer. I'm flying in a beautiful place named Ruitoque here in
the Colombian mountains, but I must do it alone because no other persons
have this interest. Please introduce me on your 'personal profile' page
. . .
ariacos@col1.telecome.com.co
It's great to get to know
you, Alvaro - and your English is just fine!. Find out more about Alvaro on the
'personal profile' page. |

BOLIN responded to my interest in the SIG Citabria.
Just saw you latest edition of ModelFlight!
Love it! I'm very interested in that Citabria you got on there.
Beautiful looking aircraft, eh? I believe at least it would be
relatively easy to build for you, nothing to really be worried about. On
the other hand, I'm not sure about flying though I feel this would not
make a bad third or fourth model. To be honest, I'd go for it anyway
just for the sake of building it. Put it off to the side after finishing
it and a few other aircraft under your belt if necessary.
Well, I should be sending some photos of our
flight in the B-17 [they arrived shortly
after this - see the air space page]. On
my B-17 model, I have got one elevator framed and sheeted, the other
needs to be sheeted still. Then on to the rudder. After that, I will
permanently instal them, then the servos and linkage. When this is done,
I will take some more photos and send them off to you.
Well, Reg, it's off to get some more drumming
in. The neighbours insist! No kidding! [Steven
is an enthusiastic drummer and has the most amazing drum kit you can
imagine!]

I was really pleased to hear from
Steven again, and look forward to being able to bring the next
instalment of his B-17 project in due course.

(surname unknown) does a lot of ARF and likes to dress his models up. He
asks:
I am looking for a source of scale decals - any
suggestions?
JScha3802@aol.com
As mentioned on ModelFlight #13,
Hannants sell a tremendous
range of scale decals principally aimed at the plastic modelling
fraternity, so scales tend to be a bit small, but they are fantastic.
Scale modelling magazines also carry ads for many such suppliers.
Hannants website is http://www.hannants.co.uk
and there's a link from their name above.

.
. . and 13-year old Randy wants help, too:
Do you know where I can find a scale R/C plane-designing
program? I've been looking all over the internet but I can't find one.
If possible, could you tell me where I can get one for free?
squall1048@aol.com
Have a look at the site
seeing page for one answer to the question; perhaps some of you are
aware of others. Randy lives in the USA, flies and likes to build r/c
planes, details of which appear to be a well-kept secret! |

Enjoyed your site. Here is a link you might
want to consider. Non-commercial information only, for R/C modelers.

Thanks, Red. Happy to include this
link both here and permanently on the links page.
Red's site is dedicated to battery care and maintenance, technical
information, etc., and is likely to answer all your questions about
batteries and plenty
else you haven't even considered! Explodes the myths and gives it to you
straight! There's also a very useful R/C Web Directory.

Very nice site you have. I was especially
interested in the DC-3 on floats.
I am also building a DC-3 from the Royal kit of years ago -
approximately a 7-foot wingspan.
When I clicked on your thumbnail to see the bigger picture, it would not
load. I wonder if there is someway you could send me the image? I had no
trouble selecting other thumbnails on your site to see the bigger
version. Just my luck. Seems I only have trouble with the stuff I really
want. Must be one of Murphy's Laws. :-)

It is weird how computers behave
sometimes - I checked the site again after receiving Reed's message and
it was working fine for me, but that's the way of these beasts
sometimes, isn't it? Anyway, I sent Reed the big image which went
through 'loud and clear', as he put it. Reed was going to send the pic
to his Dad who has 10,000 hours on DC-3's, but not on floats. He
had to buy a Super Cub to get float time. Sounds fantastic! I hope we
might hear more from Reed - including news of his DC-3 build. |
- Had a good bit of flying recently or has the weather
let you down?
- Enjoyed visiting a
show?
- Learned something new and feeling chuffed about it?
- Had a
spectacular crash?
- Bought a new model?
- One of the kids started in the
hobby?
- How's that new kit progressing?
- Got a question that someone might be able to answer?
There must be lots you can write to ModelFlight about, so click on the post-box at the top of the page and
