It's true! It would be good to meet YOU on this personal profile page, so please join the fun and send some details of yourself, your family, modelling and other interests and anything else you care to tell us about and let's get to know you!

You can either e-mail your information from the post-box at the foot of this page or use the Response Form below - and if you've got a picture of yourself, so much the better!

Here's two more enthusiastic modellers to introduce on this issue, so let's go in the order in which they made contact with ModelFlight! Next time, we will meet Craig Trickett, who is currently contributing some nice stuff to ModelFlight.

ALVARO RIASCOS from Colombia

Alvaro hails from the city of Cúcuta, a city large in commerce and mining and with a population of some 600,000 people. He has lived there for 45 years, is 65 years old and is a retired architect, although still handling some business.

Alvaro is married to Leonor and they have four children - two boys and two girls - Gilda, Ricardo, Silvia and Juan Fernando. Alvaro and Leonar are also the proud owners of seven grandchildren! The family name is Riascos Mendoza. Leonor enjoys playing golf regularly, whilst model flight is Alvaro's only hobby.

When Alvaro was first into the hobby 15 years ago, he liked to fly aerobatic models like the Kaos and Intruder, but miss2.jpg (38145 bytes) having recently returned to the hobby he says he's no longer so keen on the speed and rather likes electric fixed wing models. He currently flies this Miss 2 RTF with a 400 electric motor and a 54" wingspan which he obtained from Hobby-Lobby in the USA. Alvaro is also building a Modelair-tech Slowmowatt with a 53·5 wingspan which he hopes to have flying in two to three months.

The hobby is very small in Colombia and only a few enthusiasts practice it; it is difficult and expensive and hobby shops will only be found in the largest cities. Alvaro finds that the best way for him is to use the Internet to import goods and he also goes to the USA to obtain his supplies.

Alvaro's e-mail address is ariascos@col1.telecom.com.co and since he has no other local enthusiasts to meet up with, I am sure he would particularly welcome any e-mail contact.

You can also read Alvaro's  introductory letter on the post-box page.

and now MARTY HAMMERSMITH from Bright, Indiana, USA.

Marty is 37 years old, lives in Bright, Indiana, and is a manufacturer/distributor of swimming pool related products. He's married to Tressea Lynn and they have three children - Bobby (13), Tommy (11) and Holly who is 6 years old.

Marty has been in the hobby for just over two years and is interested in all types of fixed-wing models. He loves all types and qualities of airplanes, both full scale and R/C. In the 2+ years marty with 4star120.jpg (27107 bytes)he's built and accumulated a number of airplanes - everything from trainers to pylon racers and giant scale aerobatic gas powered machines - he confesses that the hobby has become an obsession with him! His current project is a 1:3 scale Extra 300S with 3W-100 twin for power. Click this thumbnail to see a good shot of Marty with his Ryobi 4 Star 120 and visit the photo gallery page to see more of his models.

Marty flies with the Cincinnati Aeromodellers and Flying Cardinals (visit this club on the club scene page) and his background is a lifetime love of airplanes. He is a full-scale pilot with Commercial and Ground Instructor ratings. He is the former owner of an M4 Maule and a Sonerai 2L. Marty is very much into homebuilt experimental aircraft as well as r/c planes - he's currently building an Aero Vision Horizon 2 and also a pair of Woodstock 12-metre sailplanes. If you drop by on Marty's website you can see his homebuilt Horizon under construction as well as a great deal more very interesting material.

Marty's website is http://www.geocities.com/capecanaveral/hangar/1071 and his e-mail address is baleco@worldnet.att.net

Join in the fun, send ModelFlight an e-mail and tell us about yourself, your family, hobbies and interests, what you do for a living, how long you've been model-making, what club you belong to, if any - in fact as much or as little as you see fit. Include a picture of yourself if you can.

Your e-mail address will be shown unless you specifically ask for it not to appear. Picture files ideally need to be in JPG format for best colour reproduction and to minimise time on-line.
