Flying Cardinals
Aero Modelers Club
of Northern Kentucky
Flying
Cardinals Aero Modelers Club of Northern Kentucky is one of the two
home clubs of Marty Hammersmith who is on the personal
profiles page. Marty's 13-year old son Bobby is also a
member.
It is a large club by comparison to many, with some 136 listed
members - interestingly attracting a considerable number of family
groups.
The club flying site is situated in a bend of the Ohio River, just
south of an airfield. The club extends a welcome to all and offers 'free
flying lessons to those wishing to earn their wings' subject to
membership of the club and the AMA to which the club is affiliated.
Flying Cardinals clearly has its share
of keen and skilled model-makers judging from some of the models to be
seen on the field, as you can see from these shots which I obtained from
Marty's own website
where details of the models can be found.

Left to right, we have a Fokker Triplane, a Boeing 727 and a Byron
P-51 - beautiful, aren't they?
As you see above, Flying Cardinals has a
website with a nice opening page
showing a guy with his transmitter flying this neat little animated .gif
file! The site has pages entitled About Us, Driving Directions, News
Letter, Events, Pictures and, unusually, Club Members where
the club membership is listed. The listing also includes the members'
flying channels where Jeff Jones usefully says "I carry a bag of
crystals"! Unfortunately, both the News Letter and
Events pages were blank when I visited, so the site lost some of its
punch. The URL of the club's site is http://flyingcardinals.org
if you want to pay them a visit.
The President of the club is Bob Bell Jnr and Membership Secretary is
Vaughn Thornton who can be contacted by e-mail at fish263@isoc.net
