additional channels for r/c flyers

The Joint Radio Control Users Committee have formally announced that "following protracted negotiations with the Radio Communications Agency (RA) the 35MHz band reserved for model flying has been extended to 34·945MHz to 35·305MHz providing ten extra channels, making thirty six in all. With immediate effect the current numbering system will now range from 55 to 90 inclusive. It may take a little time before crystals are available on the new channels; this will give time for new pegboards to be produced and modifications to frequency monitors etc to be undertaken.

"In accepting these new frequencies/channels, the JRCUC took the opportunity to undertake a review of the likely effects any possible introduction of new technology in radio control equipment could make to band utilisation. We have concluded that any new developments should be introduced over the whole band and not restricted to specific channels within the band."

Graham Lynn MBE, General Secretary and Chairman of the JRCUC says "Enjoy the new channels. I can assure you they have been hard won at a time when the RA is receiving ever increasing demands for additional allocations across the whole of the radio communications spectrum".

artful dodger

I came across another of those little 'tricks of the trade' on the flying field this week when good old Gordon spotted that the outermost mylar hinge on my starboard aileron had snapped across its flexing point. The temporary answer to enable me to keep flying was to run an elastic band in figure-of-eight configuration round the wing and aileron, which I've tried to show with the red line on the drawing. Simple when you know how, but this is a good example of the sort of little dodge that everybody thinks we all know, but if you're comparatively new to the game, you don't! Share your artful dodges with the rest of us through ModelFlight and somebody will be for ever grateful!
