Tell us all about your model flying club. E-mail me with some idea of the sort of facilities you have, size of membership, flying rules, subscription rates, training facilities, types of model flown, social activities, special events, site availability, guest arrangements, frequency of meetings, location, or anything else you can think to mention. Pictures will also be most welcome, and if you want to send me pictures by conventional post, my address now appears on the home page. If your club has a website, let me know the address and I will pay you a virtual visit!

Having met Roger Forgues through the post-box and personal profile pages, I thought I would drop in on his club to complete the picture, as it were - here's the low-down:

Cornwall Aero Modellers

Cornwall, Ontario, Canada

Although Roger didn't mention it in his correspondence, I discovered that he is, in fact, the President of this Club. Clearly a Club with a sense of humour, this one - one of their declared purposes is to 'serve as a support group for members to grieve over planes lost in action'!

On the right, a nice aerial shot of where the lads hang out (any lasses, I wonder - I still can't find any lady fliers). It certainly is a very nice looking site at Cornwall Center Road, located across from the town dump and carefully selected for members to conveniently dispose of their debris when the spinning earth happens to collide with their models, we're told! This is one of Roger's aerial shots, by the way.

The club holds a meeting on the second Monday of each month and has an active programme of events - they are holding their Annual Fun Fly on June 24/25, for instance, with some Cdn$400-worth of prizes to be won.

Membership fees are $50 annually, but they do appear to have very strict conditions of membership:

must be nuts about planes;
must have $$$ to crash or burn;
must have a Saint for a wife (or a rich one who loves you very much);
must have search-and-rescue skills;
must be able to tell tall stories;

- see what I mean about their sense of humour?

Surprisingly, the club's website does not have the usual photo gallery page that seems almost obligatory these days. Mind you, such pages can be very long-winded to download and sometimes the pictures are a bit disappointing. But that let's me offer ModelFlight to all you members of CAM to show the rest of the world your pride and joy - come on, lads, join the club! There are a couple of biggies in Roger's picture there that would be particularly nice to see closer up.
