Home PageHi Friends,I believe we've got a couple of 'firsts' this issue - there's news of the UK team selected for the European Scale Championships in August which I received from RICHARD CRAPP, and on cats corner you can read about a brand-new and unusual near-scale model due out this month from JB AVIATION which I haven't seen mentioned elsewhere. There is also a nice selection of scale model pictures on various pages which I hope you will enjoy, plus a slightly different modelling project which I came across and found quite fascinating, even though the model cannot fly! If you're a flight-sim fan, then there's something very interesting on the flightsim page. If you're not, have a look anyway just to see what lengths us flight-sim freaks will go to for added realism. My kids have actually threatened to buy me a leather helmet, goggles and a white silk scarf to wear when I'm aloft with FS 2000! I wonder if you've noticed that the 'plane talk' page has been re-named 'air space' - just a little cosmetic tweak that you will find explained on the post-box page. I've also sneaked in another name-change which I bet you won't spot! Something seemed to go wrong with my e-mail program in the period May 21 - May 26 after I had loaded an anti-virus program. It may have been nothing to do with that, but I received no e-mails at all during that period which is very unusual. If you did send something to me, then I apologize that you haven't heard back from me, and I would be most grateful if you would re-send your message if it's still in your 'sent items' folder. I always acknowledge all e-mails, by the way, so if you don't hear from me shortly after apparently successfully sending a message, that will generally mean something is wrong. This is the tenth fortnightly appearance of ModelFlight - an especial welcome to you if this is your first visit and I hope you will come again. I see my 'invitation to view' was printed in the June issue of Model Flyer so hopefully that will entice a few new visitors to have a look. I am sorry that the larger number of pictures on the photo gallery page means that it is a bit slow to download and some of the full-screen pictures are not appearing progressively - they will appear complete once the file has down-loaded. Unfortunately, I appear to have caused some offence to at least one newsgroup user as, for the first time in the eighteen weeks that ModelFlight has been in existence, I have received some criticism. Bob Cowell appears to conclude that from the way I promote the site its content can't be all that good. I'm not too sure how those two aspects are actually linked, but see for yourselves what he had to say to me on the post-box page. Any way, thanks to you all for your visits and your encouraging comments - it's nice to know that the site is being enjoyed. Happy landings, |
