Hi Friends,

I very much enjoyed visiting the 25th Sandown Model Symposium on May 6. This is one of the UK's major model shows which includes not only aircraft but r/c cars and boats - what lovely model subjects boats make, don't they?

Particularly impressive in the all-day flying programme was the display given by Christophe Paysant-Le Roux, the French, European and World F3A Champion. His display flight with his Madness 3D aerobatic model was just breathtaking, all done within an unbelievably low ceiling and amazingly slowly - flying more like a heli, in fact! 

By contrast, Bob Johnston put on the most staggering display of aerobatics with his Millenium Heli, zooming around the sky at very high speed and concluding with an autorotation from  such a height that the machine was only a dot in the sky, and carrying out just about every manoeuvre in the book on the way down - more like an aerobatic stunt plane, you might say! 

There's a personal profile in this update from TOMMY YATES, who is keen to correspond with European modellers and to trade kits and plans.
