READ ABOUT the latest kits, books, gadgets and gizmos - although I read somewhere that 'gizmos' are supposed to be home-made -to hit the shops. Suppliers are invited to e-mail details of new products and I will feature them in this section. Contact addresses and telephone numbers will be published where available so you can track items down that haven't appeared in your favourite model shop. You will also find a link to the manufacturer's or distributor's website on the links page.

flair catalogueI DON'T KNOW ABOUT YOU, but I just love browsing through the lovely big catalogues that some of the major distributors produce, although I always think there should be some way of getting your money back that you've paid for the cat if you place a decent order through your model shop . . . Anyway, here's a full-colour beauty from Flair Products jam-packed with all sorts of kits and accessories. Unlike some of the other catalogues, I haven't seen this one in my model shop, but it can be obtained direct from Flair Products at their Swindon (UK) address. It costs £4 in the UK, £6 for overseas. Have a look at their massive website on www.flairproducts.co.uk. You can also e-mail them on flair.products@dial.pipex.com

piccoloIT SEEMS INCREDIBLE that anyone has managed to design a model helicopter suitable for indoor flying, but there are now actually two such models vying for our attention (and our money)! This one is the Ikarus 'Piccolo' - electric powered with an impressive specification. Said to be light and durable, the Piccolo has many carbon fibre and carbon parts. The basic model costs £139.99 including its two electric motors and smart custom-designed carrying case. In addition, you need two SuperTec Pico servos, a special nicad pack and charger and the Piccoboard control module all of which can be purchased with the helicopter as a package for £299.99. The model can be flown on a standard 4-channel transmitter. Unlike its 'rival', the Snelflight Hoverfly, this one does not use an umbilical lead and will fly for around 5 minutes on its 7-cell AAA nicad pack.  Distributed by J Perkins Distribution Ltd. and available from your model shop.
